Emotional Cartography

Cosm makes the world more connected.
The Internet of Things is happening, and it’s being built right here on Cosm. Founded as Pachube in 2008, Cosm has grown under the vision that open is better than closed and sharing is better than hoarding. Today, Cosm is the platform, API and community where devices, information, developers, apps and commercial applications come together to bring connected products and ideas to life.

Availability and Access:
the data must be available as a whole and at no more than a reasonable reproduction cost, preferably by downloading over the internet. The data must also be available in a convenient and modifiable form.

Reuse and Redistribution:
the data must be provided under terms that permit reuse and redistribution including the intermixing with other datasets.

Universal Participation:
everyone must be able to use, reuse and redistribute - there should be no discrimination against fields of endeavour or against persons or groups. For example, ‘non-commercial’ restrictions that would prevent ‘commercial’ use, or restrictions of use for certain purposes (e.g. only in education), are not allowed.

What I think about open data:
While many countries publish some of their data to public, it is mostly in document, web page, reports format which is also not linked to other set of information coming even from their own source next time.

What is needed that this is provided as raw data having linkages to other known data sets at least in ministry/ department with a provision of adding new linkages by other departments/ ministeries/ public at large.

This has power to trigger new questions connecting different fields of studies and allowing us to see how new solutions can be built with combined knowledge of many.
